Who is Amitai Etzioni?

From Yale University Press and amitaietzioni.org, we learn Etzioni's life started after he graduated from Berkeley: http://yalepress.typepad.com/security_first/author.html

About the Author

Amitai Etzioni is Professor of International Relations at the George Washington University. His previous books on foreign policy include From Empire to Community: A New Approach to International Relations (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2004), Political Unification: A Comparative Study of Leaders and Forces (New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1965), and Winning Without War (Garden City, N.Y.: Doubleday, 1964). He served as a senior advisor to the White House, and taught at Columbia University, Harvard and Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1958.

Dr. Etzioni served as the president of the American Sociological Association in 1994-95, and in 1989-90 was the founding president of the international Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics. In 1990, he founded the Communitarian Network, a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to shoring up the moral, social and political foundations of society. He was the editor of The Responsive Community: Rights and Responsibilities, the organization's quarterly journal, from 1991-2004. In 1991, the press began referring to Dr. Etzioni as the "guru" of the communitarian movement.

Dr. Etzioni is the author of over thirty books, including The Monochrome Society (Princeton: Princeton University Press, 2001), The Limits of Privacy (New York: Basic Books, 1999), The New Golden Rule (New York: Basic Books, 1996), which received the Simon Wiesenthal Center's 1997 Tolerance Book Award, The Spirit of Community (New York: Crown Books, 1993), and The Moral Dimension: Toward a New Economics (New York: Free Press, 1988). His most recent books are My Brother's Keeper: A Memoir and a Message (Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield, 2003), and How Patriotic is the Patriot Act?: Freedom Versus Security in the Age of Terrorism (Routledge, 2004).

Outside of academia, Dr. Etzioni's voice is frequently heard in the media. He appears often on radio and television programs, and is regularly consulted by print media as well.

In 2001, he was named by Richard Posner as being among the top 100 American intellectuals as measured by academic citations.

Also in 2001, Dr. Etzioni was awarded the John P. McGovern Award in Behavioral Sciences as well as the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. He was also the recipient of the Seventh James Wilbur Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the Appreciation and Advancement of Human Values by the Conference on Value Inquiry, as well as the Sociological Practice Association's Outstanding Contribution Award.

My ACL page on Etzioni is still a mess. http://nord.twu.net/acl/etzioni.html I started revising it and left it half finished. But, for those just hearing his name for the first time, there is a lot of available online information about the "guru" that extols his almost heavenly virtues.

Not many people write about him and his contributions from an opposition researchers' opinion. There may be a lot more writers using the term communitarianism lately, but few of them want to mention Etzioni, let alone explain how he came to hold such a high level position in American government. Could be because he opens up the whole British-Zionist-Cabbalist-Christian can-of-worms, which is definitely an area many people choose to avoid/ignore. Can't say I blame them, but without this crucial piece to the global structure, the globalist's core philosophy never comes to light.

The emgerging supra-national integration is not limited to political structures and the justice systems, included in the more moral moderation of nationalism and religious extremism is the concept of asking religious leaders to embrace their moderates and turn over their extremists. It sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

Much of what he publishes is very carefully presented. Some of it even sounds good to me until I remind myself he's a master of deception. In many ways Etzioni represents the highest level of Fabian training in globalist propaganda, his professionalism and leadership in this arena is undisputable. His lovely idea of promoting gentle moral persuasion is what we see if we're not really reading; cloaking terrorism behind an anti-terrorism argument is looking more and more like a standard trick.

Etzioni travels the world lecturing teachers and governments how to teach common people how to become moral communitarians. Everyone in the world should have the opportunity to learn how to be a educated as a democratic citizen, it's only fair. Here's a University of London gig that was just cancelled:

According to his employment history, his first job was as an instructor at Columbia University in 1958. I guess the Israeli military was an all volunteer, unpaid army in 1948 when Etzioni was a soldier. Where did he volunteer his time between 1948 and 1950, what did he do in the two years after he served in the Arab Wars and before he started his studies under Martin Buber? Who paid his college tuition and living expenses? When exactly did Etzioni resign from the Israeli military? (Did he get an honorable discharge?) He claims Israel refuses to relinquish his Israeli passport. Does Israel also refuse to relinquish his military credentials?

Sure, Mr. Exalted One, but are ya still able to drag a makeshift plow... like, by the skin of your teeth?

Do ya hunt? Or fish? Even cook for yourself?

No? So what good have ya done really, my man?

You mean to say you never walked barefooted across glowing embers either?

Tell me; who do ya love, dude? Besides yourself? And the sound of your own immigrant's voice?

How loyal are to this here country anyway? You mean to tell me you've been here since the 50s, and still can't speak even the Queen's English?

I've got some mo' questions for ya, O Blessed One. To begin with, are you a paid shill for Fearless Leader - you know who I mean, a spy for your Lordship, the Great Paymaster - from across that fabled, slippery divide... like waaaaay over yonder... in London town?

This heathen wants to know if YOU actually think you're better than ME!

Care to arm wrestle me sometime?

No, again? How 'bout then, I challenge your sorry ass to an honest debate?

Just you and me - I'll set it up!

Or would you just prefer I die and go the way of the dodo bird... like will your own worshipful riff-raff... O Masterful One?

How 'bout you give me a short stab at your worthless job instead?

Man, where I come from, bullshit ain't scarce; and, believe you me, I can spread it around... as good as you ever could... any day of the damn week!

BTW, are the perks and bennies any good?

What's the pay like these days for helping Fearless Leader... herd your fellow man... into a life of intolerable misery... and chattel servitude?

I'm telling ya the truth: I can do your filthy, disgusting job... way better!

Now wutta ya say there, Incredible?
