Obama's former "Green Czar" calls him a Communitarian

This article has been re-posted all over the internet in the past 2 days. I've looked at about 10 pages of search returns, and only one I opened so far added anything original to the Rebel Pundit's story.

Reading the comments from various sites shows how many people think Van Jones made the term up, and how most say it's just another word for communism. (Exactly what happened when Bill Clinton used the word in Montreal. Nobody there knew what it is either and the reporter said Clinton "coined the phrase"). Only one website that reposted Pundit's article had a link to the ACL, and that was onlysecond hand via democratsagainstunagenda21. 

Really interesting is Van Jones' description of it..... and his telling Breibart there's really no way to look it up. Our anti communitarian research has been on the internet for ten years, we're on the wiki "communitarian" page, but for some reason readers never did a keyword search that would lead to us, or to Etzioni, nor did Jones obviously.

Is this a great way to further confuse the American people, or what?

"Jones compared the president’s address to that of Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984 and recommended that the theater full of college students read Reagan’s “powerful” and “strong,” inaugurals, which he said were “rooted in American tradition and values,” but “unabashedly” and “unapologetically conservative.”'

Following Jones's comparison of President Obama to Ronald Reagan, the “unabashedly conservative” president, I pressed Jones further for some insight into what and who President Obama really is.

Jones replied: “He is a communitarian.” He then elaborated briefly: “I mean you always have individualism, communitarianism, as a part of the, American story, and I think we’ve overbalanced the individualistic direction and I think he’s trying to rebalance toward communitarianism.”

Later, when asked (off tape) to define "communitarian," Jones was unable to answer or to point toward any source for a definition. He said there wasn’t really a way to look up “communitarianism.”

He did reiterate, however, that he saw communitarianism as a counterbalance to libertarianism, which he equated to “individualism.”

Jones declined an interview with Breitbart News following the lecture.

President Obama’s speech fulfills the commitment he made at the United Nations a year ago to “support the Millennium Development Goals, and approach next year’s summit with a global plan to make them a reality. And we will set our sights on the eradication of extreme poverty in our time.” The policy outlined by the President has four pillars which will serve as the lynchpins for the Obama Administration’s improved, intensified and coherent approach to foreign assistance.

The President’s announcement of a new US Global Development Policy has four principles that will guide US foreign assistance in not only in addressing US commitments to achieving the Millennium Development Goals, but also bringing coherency and leadership into managing the breadth and depth of the US foreign assistance apparatus. The four pillars of the new US Global Development Policy are:

1. The US recognizes that aid alone is not development. 2. The US will strive to offer people a way out of poverty by working with governments to improve societies in the long term;

The President’s speech is a call-to-action. It recognizes the power of partnerships with not only multilaterals such as the United Nations, but also recognizes the powerful catalytic role that the private sector, foundations and civil society does and can play in “realizing the future that none of us can achieve alone.”

President Obama calls upon his fellow leaders to lead and succeed noting that “no country wants to be dependent on another. No proud leader in this room wants to ask for aid.” He outlined broad governance ideals to help leaders unleash the power of the entrepreneurs, to engage women in the economic prosperity of their respective countries by opening schools and providing opportunities for them to attain economic well being and health.

It is clear this is not a “We lead, you follow.” policy. It is a clear departure from the past policies, a unambiguous articulation of doing business in a better and smarter way. Although we await the details to fill out the brief outline in his speech, the tidbits in the speech offer a sign that the US will no longer continue to do business as usual in its foreign assistance portfolio.

Let us root for the team at the Peace Corps just three blocks to the west, and the team of the Foreign Service and the Civil Service over at the Department of State.

Let us root for the new team at the Agency for International Development (USAID) down the hill in the Reagan Building, and the Millennium Campaign Corp. (MCC) just two blocks to the East.
For the congressional staffers on Capitol Hill, and for the many think tankers, scholars, university students, church groups, and non-governmental organizations, and for the consultants, contractors, and corporations, who work within a few miles of this square to make a difference to those living in poverty and the conditions that keep them there.

And, yes, I would ask also that you root for the teams of the United Nations, such as mine, the UN Development Programme, and for the teams at UNICEF, at the World Food Programme, the UN Population Fund, and many others. And for those at the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the International Monetary Fund -- all within a short walk from here.

Soft Communitarian Approaches to the Future of World Order

Where did the Bill Clintons, the George Bushes, David Cameron and President Obama get their ideas for changing the world? Is Cameron bringing communitarian fascism to Obama like a Larouchie claims? Where did this movement toward global governance start? Who is exporting the communitarian philosophy to the world? What is the basis for "local control?" The answers to these questions are at the ACL, and I think it's time I wrote another introductory tutorial to the Plan. I don't think I need to title it "What Plan?" any longer.

Philip Blond is but the latest neo guru to arrive on the global farce stage. How can anyone write about the roots of communitarianism while leaving out any reference to the Zionist communitarian guru? Yes, the Fabian Society is a major player in the movement toward rebuilding the world, and the communitarian guru was weaned on it. Yes, Distributivism plays a role in shaping the communitarian theory. But if we ignore the Zionist aspects (including Etzioni's name) we miss the mystical religious basis for EU Talmudic Communitarian Free Trade law and we never even get close to exploring the communitarian war on terror.

This article comments on Amitai Etzioni’s advocacy of “soft communitarianism” as the preferred approach to the establishment of a global governance architecture responsive to the current range of world order challenges facing the world and the United States. The article criticizes the effort to combine an insider discussion of American foreign policy with the presentation of a framework for ethical problem solving that has the potential for acceptance throughout the world. A related criticism is the degree to which the foreign policy agenda is discussed in the terms within which it has arisen in Washington, giving the communitarian approach a discrediting nationalistic tilt.

Here's Cameron's "new" Big Society idea as it was presented in 1998 by the experts in Israel:

It is argued that labor applied in the domestic economy can add value in ways that can have a significant impact on the standards and quality of life for the poor. World press plays down Clinton's speech - or flat ignores it

The NYT, the Boston Globe, the LA Times, CNN, CBS, NBC and ALL political talk show hosts are ignoring what Clinton revealed in Montreal. Why can't Americans be TOLD YET?

Why wasn't this news repeated by the US Press? Shouldn't Americans be told about communitarianism too?

Kathleen at Habeas Corpus Canada explains why the failure was necessary in order to establish a communitarian regional government in Canada.

So what's more important, as in what's "hard news" as opposed to "fluff?" I studied journalism at UMass, Amherst under profs who also sat on city desks. I think Professor Howard Ziff would have flunked me for sure if I'd have chosen Bill's opinion of the Canadian referendum over his call for communitarian consciousness. Such an unfamiliar term gives it a higher placement in the story, but hmm. Did Clinton's speechwriters include the "joke" about separation to give the Canadian press something to write about other than his communitarian "call"?

So where's the US Press coverage of this historical speech? Notta. Zip. Zero. As far as the American press, BOTH RIGHT and LEFT, is concerned, this is NOT NEWS. But as we know, most Americans have never even heard of it. What is news in America nowadays anyway?

So here's Makegood blog about what else was going on at McGill University when Clinton was there telling us about our shared communitarian consciounsess:

So others attended from the US and beyond (as Buzz Lightyear says, to infinity.. and beyond!). Why didn't ONE of the attendees from the US send a news story or something to an American newspaper about it? Do they all sign non disclosure agreements like that Ophra class at Northwestern or lke what the reporters sign who attend Bilderberg meetings?

Now we're "building hope" too. Great. I'm on a budget here. How much does that cost?

Does it matter to the American "anti" LA-21 programme for sustainable development crowd that Bill made the EXACT same connection I made, and Bill said the EXACT same thing I said?

Bill Clinton just told the world that communitarians are building a sustainable world, and nobody in America needs to be told what that means or that he said it at all?

And yes it sounds perfect, beyond religion, beyond mere spirituality. It's so profound only a few special people understand it, and they are the leaders training NOW to show the rest of us sinners the path to communitarian freedom (which only looks like slavery to the unenlightened). How many suckers worldwide are convinced they are more spiritually evolved and now happily consider themselves communitarians, without the first clue communitarians are liars, thieves and murderers? And I'll just bet the faithful will deny it, no matter how much evidence they see that proves the concept of sustainability is a total lie. Once we come to believe in a power greater than ourselves that can heal the world...we just don't let go of that power very easily.

Just stumbled on this long, referenced academic article by Menno R. Kamminga (International Relations and International Organization, University of Groningen) article that argues:

This came today from Kathleen at Habeas Corpus Canada. Her commentary about it was penetrating and knowledgable, she's done a lot of research into the Canadian players and their associations. She's reinspired me today... after the past couple weeks of web updates, videos and radio interviews, 'm fried and was thinking of taking a break. Heh. As my ex-husband used to tell me all the time, "Man he works from sun to sun but women's work is never done."

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton put out a clarion call for people to engage in “communitarianism”, doing one’s part for those on the disadvantaged side of the inequality that exists around the world.

Clinton was at Centre Mont Royal downtown Friday morning to receive an honourary degree in Doctor of Laws from McGill University for his achievements in leadership, as part of McGill’s Leadership Summit ‘09. McGill principal Heather Monroe-Blum, who introduced Clinton, noted that only one other U.S. president received a McGill honourary degree — Franklin Roosevelt in 1944.

After opening with some self-deprecating remarks, and noting that he was happy that Quebec and the rest of Canada “didn’t get a divorce” back in 1995, Clinton focused on the work of his William J. Clinton Foundation, which tackles the challenges of global interdependence, helping people with HIV and AIDS, fighting climate change and develop sustainable economic growth in Africa and Latin America. Clinton has also been, sometimes with former president George H.W. Bush, raising funds for recovery efforts after recent devastating natural disasters.
Clinton told the appreciative audience that he likes Canada because “in many ways, it was like America but with one fundamental difference over the last 25 years.

“There’s a great appreciation for individualism, a great belief in the power of free enterprise, and yet there was a certain communitarianism that persisted in Canada that has been lacking in America, but has been building steadily there for the last 10 years,” he explained.

“Communitarianism is neither left nor right, it simply recognizes that we are mutually dependent on each other, that it is inconceivable that we can find personal fulfillment or family success unless we have some concern or care for the general conditions under which we all live.

“The whole world is interdependent to an extent it has never been before.

“I would like to make the argument today that this is basically the mission we have to undertake for the world... We have to have a world consciousness. In the absence of that, we will not make good decisions.”

The former president added that one focus of his foundation is to rectify a 25-year-old policy that saw developed countries deliver food to famine-stricken nations, which became impractical and expensive, rather than promoting the development of local agriculture. He credited Canada for moving away from this policy and noted that former president George W. Bush also wanted to do so.

In general, Clinton said the world is “too unequal, with half the world living on less than $2 a day, a billion people who go to bed hungry, a billion having no access to clean water, 2.5 billion having no access to sanitation and 130 million who will never go to school. One in four people this year will die of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and infections related to dirty water. Eighty percent of the people who die of water-borne diseases are five years of age or younger.” And yet, he also related stories of children and adults either impoverished or devastated by death or natural disaster who choose to persevere.

In the 21st century world, “citizens have the power to affect the course of their own destiny, and the world’s destiny is greater than it has ever been.” He cited the numerous NGOs — non-governmental organizations— around the world as taking such initiatives that governments do not.

“They believe they can change the world from the ground up... When you have the ability to do something that is good, you have a moral responsibility to try and do it. Most of what I spend my time doing now is trying to get people to understand that you don’t have to be president, a member of Parliament or Congress, or a prime minister, to have a positive impact around the world. You don’t have to be rich... if a large number of people with a limited amount of money each agree that something is a problem, they can move the world.”
Mount Royal MP Irwin Cotler, one of those in the audience, said the speech was “extraordinary.”

“One of the most inspiring I’ve ever heard — moving, with great content. He summed it up by saying we live in an interdependent world and we have to see ourselves as a communitarian people, and look out for one another or the nature of the universe in which we live with its instability, injustice, inequality and the like will take us down the road to disaster. That plea for working on behalf of our common humanity, the stories he told, this was one of the greatest speeches I’ve ever heard.”

Do we really have to see ourselves as "communitarian people?" I don't think we know enough about communitarianism to make a healthy choice about it. Why didn't former President Bill Clinton tell the American people about it when they elected him in 1992? Why doesn't President Obama tell the American people about it now. Do we all just become communitarians by default, with nobody really knowing what it is? Oh, okay, yeah...that's real freedom, right?

Former President Clinton Advocates New Gun And Magazine Ban - A "Communitarian Movement"

Here's the second time Bill Clinton's mentioned communitarianism in the last six months. Did anyone else besides the NRA notice he said this in January? How is it possible that Clinton's out there telling people about communitarianism (not communism Henry) and still so few are curious enough to find out what he means? The NRA understands it, they wrote the first legal analysis of communitarian law sometime before I found them in 2000. They can see how our law protecting individual rights is an "impediment to uniformly adopting values the movement considers appropriate." Should anyone else care what values this forward movement holds?

"[W]e're now in a position to begin again," he said. "It's not a leftward movement. It's a forward, communitarian movement." Communitarianism is a movement that considers individualism an impediment to society uniformly adopting values the movement considers appropriate, including authoritarian gun control. Clinton Global Initiative or Is Hillary funded by the Rothschild's Bank of England?

Just got an email of a New Zealander's article about the Clinton's connections to the British Fabian-Rhodes Society, and the Fabian basis for the 1987 movie "Amerika."

It's a really good article, but I can't use it at the ACL Fabian Society research page because the writer didn't include all his references. Much of what he says in the beginning I already checked out after I was introduced to it by Joan Veon, Henry Lamb, Webster Tarpley and Anton Chaitkin in 1999. So I did the same thing with this writer as I've done with every other. I started checking his facts. Seems like no matter how much I read and study there's still major things that slip past me.

For example:

1. I've never heard of nor seen the 1987 movie "Amerika." Has anybody else?

According to author John Christian, the Rothschilds, several other billionaires and royals are part of Clinton's lovely sounding vague mission to save the planet. Now Brad Pitt, husband to UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie (who owns a house near the Rothschilds outside London) is leading their urban renewal projects.

I followed the events in New Orleans until I took a break from research in May 2006. I knew they would rebuild it as a model communitarian city because they said they would. It hurts so much to know this once great multi-cultural center no longer exists, I can't imagine the pain it causes to former residents. It's pure anguish to know that THIS rebuilding scheme is the fate of every city, town and rural area in America. What they're replacing it with is a Hollywood Disney movie set, all cute and sweet up front and laden with sinister motives underneath (which Christian goes into great detail about).

It's a national shame the residents of New Orleans haven't got the first clue what's in store for them. This CGI planning meeting is next week and there won't be ANYBODY there who opposes communitarian rebuilding methods (or will there?). If I had the money I'd offer to fly down and support a public meeting on the topic. Maybe I should go anyway, hitch-hike down and join the homeless. Maybe that's the only way to get my free gertee instructable out to people in the Southern states who remain homeless or stuck in government camps. It's a ridiculous plan, I know. Nordica would be furious with me for even considering it. But it's funny how often I'm labeled a "selfish individualist" because of my unwavering stand against communitarianism when I've been a volunteer for the American people for almost a decade. I know I'm supposed to find a way to make money and I should be trying to sell GerTee instead of giving it away. But it's just an idea. I don't want to make them for everybody, I just want them to know they can make them themselves. The American housing crisis is real. In theory, Gertees can pass the eco-friendly sustainable building requirements for new development.
